2021 is over. However, people are still talking about the increase in unruly behavior on flights across the country. From sexual harassment, refusal to wear masks, and fights— there were some truly disturbing incidents going down in the friendly skies.

As we previously reported, the Federal Aviation Administration logged more than 5,000 disturbing incidents caused by passengers, including more than 2,600 reports of passengers refusing to comply with the federal mask mandate.

Here is a list we compiled of what we considered the 10 most disturbing caused by unruly passengers in 2021. In your opinion, which one was the most disturbing among these 10?

1. American Airlines Passenger Duct-Taped To Seat Following Erratic Behavior

In July, a video showed a passenger duct-taped to her seat on board an American Airlines flight headed from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

2. Frontier Airlines Passenger Duct-Taped To Seat After Sexually Assaulting And Punching Flight Attendants

 

One month later, it happened again. This time, on a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami. A passenger had to be duct-taped to a seat after causing quite a disturbance on his flight.

22-year-old Ohio resident Maxwell Berry was said to have touched two female flight attendants breasts, before yelling out that his parents were worth $2 million dollars.

3. American Airlines Flight Deplaned On Taxiway For Suspicions Of Bomb Threat

In October, passengers on an American Airlines flight had to be deplaned on a taxiway after the pilot and crew suspected a passenger of having some type of explosive device.

According to one passenger on the flight, a woman could be heard telling an unidentified male passenger, “don’t do that, don’t do that.”

There is no word on what the woman was referring to, but it is said to have triggered the panic on the airplane.

4. American Airlines Flight Diverted After 13-Year-Old Boy Handcuffed For Disturbance

 

A 13-year-old-boy on an American Airlines flight had to be restrained because of his disruptive behavior.

The boy attempted to kick out the window next to his seat and became physical with his own mother about an hour into the flight. Other passengers intervened. The teenager was then duct-taped.

5. Woman Kicked Off Spirit Airlines Flight For Smoking A Cigarette On Plane

A video of a woman aboard a Spirit Airlines flight smoking a cigarette on the plane, went viral in November after passenger Alexa Majdalawi filmed the incident. It was shared on TikTok and has since garnered over 12 million views.

6. Couple Causes Chaos On JetBlue Flight After Refusing To Comply With Mask Mandate

A couple refused to comply with the federal mask mandate on a JetBlue flight in September creating a pretty chaotic scene on board.

They were asked to leave the plane and were banned after one went on a profanity-filled rant.

According to the woman who recorded the entire incident, the wife was initially asked to tighten her son’s mask, which was falling off of his face.

7. Man Opens Emergency Exit And Walks Onto Airplane Wing In Miami American Airlines

 

In October, an unidentified man opened the plane’s emergency exit and began walking on the wing. He was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents. His reason for opening the emergency exit and jumping on the wing is unknown.

8. Unruly Passenger Yells 'I'll Break Your Neck' After Being Checked For Being Maskless

In October, another incident involving a passenger refusing to wear a face mask took place on a United Airlines flight.

The passenger was shown screaming at flight attendants and threatening to find out their personal details.

The unidentified man began threatening and physically attacking the passenger who was sitting next to him.

“I will find your name, date of birth, and address. I’ll know your social security number before I get off this flight,” aggressively pushing a passenger out of the aisle seat next to him.

9. Unruly Passenger Accuses Fellow Passenger And Flight Crew Of Having Bomb Parts

In July, Anthony Kevin Trujillo caused a huge disturbance during a flight, which started with him claiming to smell a gas leak. He then proceeded to accuse a fellow passenger of storing bomb parts in her socks.

Trujillo also accused a flight attendant of carrying explosive components in his bag, and attempted to wrestle the bag away from him.

10. Latest 'Airplane Karen' Facing Charges For Spitting On Passenger, Asks If She's Rosa Parks

Only a few days before the end of 2021, Patricia Cornwall caused a disturbance on a Delta Air Lines flight from Tampa to Atlanta.

While she was trying to get back to her seat, Cornwall saw a snack cart was blocking her way. When she was told to sit in an open seat until the cart moved, she allegedly yelled, ‘Who am I? Rosa Parks?.’

A seated male passenger replied, “You’re not Black. This isn’t Alabama and this isn’t a bus.”

That’s when things took a turn for the worse.
