Thanksgiving is only a week away; can you believe it? Last year, consumers spent about $300 per person between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. This year, because of inflation and other factors, people are looking to spend less while enjoying the holiday.
Personal finance website WalletHub released its 2022’s Best Places to Go for Thanksgiving report to help Americans decide where to celebrate the holiday without blowing their budget.
How did they come up with the list?
WalletHub compared the 100 largest cities in the country across 20 key metrics to finalize the top 20 cities to visit for Thanksgiving this year. Some of the key metrics include the cost of Thanksgiving dinner, forecasted precipitation on Thanksgiving day, and volunteer opportunities per capita.
Money-saving tips for travel this Thanksgiving
“As far as air travel, the keyword would be flexibility. Being able to leave a day or two before the big rush may mean saving some money as far as fares are concerned. My suggestion is to plan early and try to be flexible as far as your travel plans are concerned,” says Fred Hurvitz, professor at Pennsylvania State University.
