Seasonal depression crept up on some and many folks could not travel at all. With springtime on the horizon, a lot of travelers are kicking off their New Year officially in March by heading off to some new destinations. 

With Mr. Groundhog confirming that an early spring is on the way, March is the perfect time to kick off spring travels. While some travelers are looking to escape the cold, others are looking to reconnect with nature now that winter is ending. Here are some of the best destinations to travel to in March.

Storm watching is major in Vancouver and folks head to the Canadian city to relax indoors and watch the storm roll in on Vancouver Island. The Vancouver International Dance Festival happens each year in the city, attracting thousands of dancers and travelers from around the world. Ski season is still in full swing in March and you might even catch a glimpse of a few whales closer to the end of the month. Traveling to Vancouver in March is accompanied by indoor fun, exciting festivals, and mild weather.

Like Vancouver, Barcelona is a hotspot for tourist fun and festivals with even better weather in March. Temperatures stay around the mid-60s this time of year in the Spanish city. Travelers can also find great travel deals to Barcelona in March. There are smaller crowds at tourist attractions and cheaper rates for accommodations during this time of year. Travelers can visit the bohemian town of Gracia for the colorful Sant Medir celebration. The vintage car rally between Barcelona and Sitges happens every March in the city and there are a plethora of tours taking place each day showcasing the beauty of Barcelona life and culture.

Las Vegas is popping all year long and March is no exception. There’s always something to do on the Strip. With an endless slew of casinos, buffets, and live shows to wander into, it’s no surprise Vegas is a hotspot for travelers in March. There are plenty of music acts taking over Vegas in March including Christina Aguilera, Adele, and Madonna. Travelers can catch a Cirque De Soleil and the Blue Man Group performing in Sin City as well. There’s a little something for everybody visiting Las Vegas in March.

Winter to spring is the best time to visit the US Virgin Islands making March primetime for a trip. The islands host a large St. Patty’s Day festival and celebrate its Transfer Day at the end of March. The month is considered a high tourist time for the islands. Expect larger crowds if you visit in March. There’s plenty of boat racing happening on the ocean and even Mardi Gras celebrations happening in the Virgin Islands this March.

Many travelers heading to Georgia are prone to head to Atlanta first. However, Savannah has a slew of must-see attractions and experiences happening in March. The city has over a thousand azaleas and they come into full bloom in March. The flower show is stunning and a perfect reason to head to Georgia’s Lowcountry. The city hosts a major St. Patrick’s Day event that kicks off a month full of festivities. The Savannah Music Festival and Stopover are all taking over the city this March. 

Carlsbad, California

Carlsbad is famous for many things including its natural mineral springs and the thousands of flower fields that bloom every year in March. Travelers are heading to the California city to see the flowers in full bloom before it’s too late. You’ll find 55 acres of rolling flower fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Every year, people travel from around the country to see the Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers. The flowers stay in bloom until May but there’s no better time to see them than in March when they first reawaken to the world.
