Summer travel is on our minds heavy as we decide where to go next. Yes, there are soaring flight prices, inflated costs of gas, and skyrocketing demands, but we can’t help but dream about destinations near and far. 

U.S. travel is a great option this summer for those who aren’t quite ready to travel internationally. The U.S. has lots of great options for every type of traveler.

Nexstar Media Group has made it easy when deciding where to travel to next in the U.S. Their new report shows the top 5 most searched destinations in America for summer 2022.

The media group used Google data to put together this report. 

1. Yellowstone National Park

With 2.2 million acres of protected wilderness, Yellowstone National Park is one of the most famous national parks in the United States. Travelers can enjoy views of rivers and lakes, mountains canyons, and more. The park is also home to over half all the geysers and hydrothermal features in the world.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located mostly in Wyoming but also in Montana and Idaho. 

2. Glacier National Park

Located in Montana, Glacier National Park is also known as the “Crown of the Continent.” This park is ideal for travelers who crave adventure. There are over 1 million acres of lakes, melting glaciers, meadows, and valleys. 

Visit one of the historic hotels and chalets, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

3. Walt Disney World Resort

Venture just outside of Orlando, Florida to one of the most magical places in the world. The theme park is bouncing back from COVID-19 and is now operating at normal capacity. 

Take the whole family or enjoy a trip with friends — either way, you’re guaranteed a fun time.

4. Lake Tahoe

Sand Harbor Beach, Lake Tahoe, NV USA

Head to the west coast and enjoy the splendor of the largest alpine lake in North America. Lake Tahoe is 22 miles long and stretches across Northern California and the state of Nevada. 

Travelers can stay in one of the many lakeside casino resorts.

5. Hersheypark

This family theme park is located in Hersey, Pennslyvania. It was founded by Milton Hershey of Hersey’s Chocolate. 

Enjoy the roller coasters, water park, and zoo. There’s also Hershey’s Chocolate World, which has restaurants, shops, and a chocolate factory-themed tour ride.
