It’s almost impossible to get a table at Wings & Chill, one of the most popular Black-owned chicken spots in Paris. The co-founders say it has everything to do with the fact you won’t find anything like it in the City of Love.

“You know how there’s Wing Stop in America? Well, we are the Wing Stop of Paris,” Mamadou, one of the co-founders, told Travel Noire. “In France, restaurants make wings without flavor. It’s nothing like ours.”

Maria, a co-founder and Mamadou’s sister, saw an opportunity to create something unlike anything else in Paris.

“My sister has worked in some pretty big hotel restaurants here in Paris, but she wanted to create something of her own,” said Mamadou. “We wanted to do something special.”

All three siblings put their heads and experience in hospitality together to open a family business in 2020.

A little more than a year later, Wings & Chill has gained more than 17,000 followers on Instagram and is one of the hardest places to get a reservation all because these siblings decided to bring some flavor.

“On the menu, we have lemon pepper wings, garlic and Parmesan, other flavors that we make from scratch,” said Mamadou.

He added that all three co-founders also pay homage to their origins by creating menu items that represent Mali.

“Last year, we have created something called ‘Mama’s Burger’ made of special flavors from our country, including peanut butter, plantains, and fried chicken.”

There’s currently only one location in Paris but the co-founders are planning to add two more locations in the city come 2022 before eventually franchising.
