Uber is one of the leading ridesharing companies in the world, offering a variety of services as it has grown over the years. Among Uber’s services are food delivery, courier services, and freight transport. Its popularity is largely a result of its ease of use and the ability for riders to customize their experience. Commuters can use the Uber app on their phone and instantly connect with local drivers.

The transportation company has even come out with updates over the years that make travel that much more convenient for its users. Recently, the company has announced updates to the platform. These new features are said to make ridesharing an incredibly smooth experience. They are also being released in great timing to help people heading to the Paris Olympics, which is bound to attract astronomical numbers of visitors to the city.

The New Uber Features

Uber is rolling out a new feature that allows travelers to anticipate their rideshare situation called city insights. Users can take a look at insights into their travel destination before they even arrive. People who use the Uber app can now search and explore Uber offerings in thousands of cities across the globe. This means that Uber users can see the average wait time and cost of a ride.

Uber Reserve

One of the other new features includes the option to reserve rides ahead of time. This is an incredibly convenient feature for avid travelers who want to simplify their trips. The app can estimate rides from all local airports within a given city, so people can schedule their rides to and from vacation.

To organize a ride for the future, travelers first need to tap “where to” in the app. After this, app users can select “search in a different city” to find their future travel destination. Once Uber users select their pickup location and destination, they can view the wait time and price of their ride. Users can then click “reserve” and specify any further details for their trip.

A New Miles Program for Flyers

Uber also has a new partnership. In partnership with the loyalty program of Air France-KLM Group, which is called Flying Blue, sightseers can earn miles by using Uber. Thanks to this newly launched feature, tourists can use the Uber app and earn miles for years to come. One of the best parts of this new feature is that locals and tourists can earn miles, but only in France and the Netherlands. They are both able to earn 1 Flying Blue mile per pound spent on Uber rides.

This conversion increases for loyal users of the app. People who use the app for four or more trips in a month can earn 2 miles per pound spent. This is something that travelers who will be in France this summer for the Olympics should keep in mind. The miles can be used to redeem many different things, like reserving or upgrading a flight, booking hotel rooms, and even shopping with certain brands. People who want to participate in this miles program with Uber should be sure to link their Flying Blue account in their Uber app settings before riding.

Expanded Uber Boat Offerings

The Uber Boat operates commuter and tourist rides. These types of Uber rides provide an upgraded and scenic experience for app users. In partnership with Click and Boat, a leading European boat rental organization, Uber can help pre-book a private cruise in Paris. People who book this experience can enjoy an hour-long ride in a fully electric boat that cruises down the iconic Seine River.

Uber users who pre-book this experience can enjoy this leisurely ride for free too. The only catch is that the cruises are available for a short time, even though they depart every 20 minutes. This experience recently concluded its first period, from July 12-18. The final cruise dates are July 28 through August 3, between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.
