Looking for the best destinations for Black travelers in June for that 10/10 vacation you’ve been dreaming of? Yep, us too. We know that planning a vacation while Black is not as straightforward as picking a destination on the map and setting off. There is a lot of thought, consideration and sometimes sacrifice that goes into the process of booking a flight.

Looking at a combination of high/low season cities, seasonal events and, of course, the reality of traveling while Black, we’ve scouted out these best destinations. June is about to be jam-packed with exciting adventures, we just know it!

Located in East Africa, Rwanda is a gorgeous summer destination for Black travelers to consider. It is most famously visited for tracking mountain gorillas and tourists from around the world visit the country each year to experience it. Not only is Kigali one of the most forward and super green capitals in the region, but it also boasts Lake Kivu with inland beaches, boat tours and cycle trails – all only a drive away from the capital.

Ah, an Italian summer… of all the European countries to do summer, Italy sits at the top of the list. There is something special about it, especially the coast. We recommend Cinque Terre, a string of centuries old fishing villages turned romantic summer spot. June is undoubtedly a busy time to visit this particular spot but it is not as packed as July or August, by any means.

London, England

First things first, London will always be that destination with cool things to discover all-year long. This June 2022, with national Bank Holidays and the longer daylight hours, it is the place to be. We admit it, the weather is still hit and miss in London during June but it is certainly a favorite destination for Black travelers. The Black culture is not to slept on and when the sun is out, everyone is in a good mood and showing it off on a pretty rooftop or garden pub somewhere.

Willemstad, Curaçao

What we love most about Curaçao is how colorful, cultural and exciting a tiny island it promises to be. This June, Black travelers can look forward to exploring an island as much Dutch as it is deeply Caribbean. Take it slow and indulge in as many beach days as possible (you’ve got a lot to choose from after all) or witness the natural wonders in the Christoffel National Park. The Christofell mountain is a true testament to the natural beauty of the island.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

A trip to Puerto Rico this June is sure to impress. Whether you have a full or a light itinerary, the abundance of Black culture, famous Caribbean beaches and incredible Puerto Rican food will keep you occupied. We recommend Puerto Rico in June particularly since it is just before the rainy season begins meaning more time enjoying the beautiful tropical island. It is also one of the least expensive periods to visit the island.

Zanzibar, Tanzania

It wouldn’t be a Travel Noire list without at least one African tropical destination. Get yourself over to Zanzibar in Tanzania if you’re looking for a trip to remember this June. With some of East Africa’s finest beaches, this is a destination to fully load up vacation mode. June is the perfect time to visit if you’re hoping to enjoy diving and snorkelling with the northern reefs being a particular marvel on the island.
