The country will focus on tourism post the World Cup. Almost $10 billion was spent on preparations for the big event, including eight stadiums, new roads, a metro system and expansion to the airport. These efforts will help boost the economy in Qatar.
Nasser Al Khater, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022’s CEO says the profit from the event is expected to reach nearly $17 billion.
“As Qatar invested on numerous infrastructures, it’s going to benefit not just the FIFA [World Cup] but many other businesses, especially the travel industry in the future. I am hopeful that it will positively impact my company too,” says Thabet.
