Addis Ababa will soon be home to the largest hotel in Africa. The Ethiopian Skylight hotel opened about a year ago initially with 375 rooms and is now going through the second phase of construction. At the end of construction, there will be a room capacity of 1,000.
Esayas Woldermariam Hailu, Chief Commercial Officer for Ethiopian Airlines Group tells IOL News: “This is a way to accommodate the Meetings Incentives Conferences and Events as well as the leisure tourism arrivals into Ethiopia.”
Ethiopian Airlines Group has a 15-year strategic roadmap called Vision 2025, with the goal of becoming the leading aviation group in Africa.
Located in central Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Skylight Hotel is only a five-minute drive from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
In addition to stunning rooms, the hotel has three restaurants including the largest Chinese restaurant in East Africa and a traditional Ethiopian restaurant. There is a Grand Ballroom with a capacity of 2,000 guests and the room can be sectioned off into 5 individual rooms.
Hotel facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, spa, gym, health center, and mini-golf courses.
“The third phase of the project is to build lodges in Ethiopia’s tourism hotspots across the country,” says Hailu.
