Home to the wealthiest people of India, Rajasthan throws its hat in the ring when it comes to having one of the most luxurious trains in the world. India’s first luxury train, the Palace On Wheels makes the Amtrak look like The Bronx. A seven-night journey with everything included is valued at 12.4 lakhs which is a little more than $15,000.
Keepin Up With The Maharajas
The royal train was introduced in 1982 and it was built to match the experience and luxury of the Maharajas train. The Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways collaborated on putting this train together for India’s wealthiest of the northern region. Within the seven-night journey, the train stops in Jaipur, Ranthambore, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, and Agra. Each stop includes a special itinerary for clients to explore within each city.
Indian Drip
Within the train’s interior, you can see a lot of its classic traditional Indian charm with a mix of modern amenities. The designs are an ode to the country’s rich heritage and authenticity from the old world. The most expensive cabin, the super-deluxe, has a double bed, table- side seating, a spacious bathroom, TV, intercom, and of course wifi. The train also features two lavish restaurants with royal Rajasthani influences and two fully stocked bars with local and popular international brands.
