As you prepare to map out your 2019 travel calendar, you should consider adding a few of these Caribbean islands to that list. After all, sun, fun, white sand, and crystal blue waters are always something to which you can look forward.
Aruba
This tiny Dutch island is located off the coast of Venezuela. It receives the least amount of rainfall in comparison to other Southern Caribbean destinations. Like most Caribbean islands, Aruba is known for its beautiful beaches. Palm Beach is the most popular beach around the island. Here is where you will find most of the hotels, restaurants, and bars. Of course, Aruba is also known for its adorable pink flamingos.
You will need to venture out to the Renaissance Island to catch the flamingos, which is a private island owned by Renaissance Aruba Resort. If you don’t plan to physically stay at the resort, you can contact the resort about day passes to access the beach where the flamingos live. Either way, this island should be on your list.
Turks and Caicos
This British territory sits just southeast from the Bahamas. The most popular island is Provo, home to the gorgeous Grace Bay. Grace Bay is complete with luxury resorts, water sports, shops, and restaurants. It is also some of the most beautiful, clear water you will ever see. There are always great flight deals for this destination so make sure you are always on the lookout.
St. Lucia
Some locals will argue that St. Lucia is not truly part of the Caribbean. Either way, this lover’s paradise is perfect for a few days of tranquility and relaxation. While the Soufriere area is marketed to couples, you can find the “turn up” on the northern tip of the island, better known as Castries. Soufriere is home to the amazing sulfur spring mud bath as well the as the picturesque Pitons. In Castries, you can find more of the nightlife. If you plan to visit both areas, make sure you have enough time. While the island isn’t very big, getting from one part to the other takes some time due to winding roads.
Barbados
We’ve seen Rihanna rep her home like no other, now it’s time to see it for yourself. Although it is a smaller island, you will still have a great time. While there, you can take a tour through Harrison’s cave which is a limestone cavern with mini pools inside. As far as beaches, head to Bathsheba. Barbados is reach in history and a popular local pastime includes enjoying tea and watching people play cricket.
Antigua
American Airlines just added new routes to this island. Antigua is one of two major islands that are apart of Antigua Barbuda. The islands just won several awards for Caribbean travel. They were recognized as ‘luxury destination of the year’ and ‘Caribbean airport of the year.’ The island is also a wellness and relaxation haven. Have you ever done a HIIT workout in water? Well, you can find it at floatfit Caribbean aquabase.
