These groups not only inspire us to be adventurous and enjoy nature exploration in our travels, but they also organize hikes, outings and trips that allow us to experience the outdoors with travelers who look like us.

Black Girls Trekkin’

Black Girls Trekkin’ was created to offer experiences that inspire Black women to confidently pursue outdoor adventure. Recognizing the deep-rooted cultural relationship between women of color and the outdoors, it aims to help participants reestablish this connection through the hiking and camping expeditions it offers.

Black People Outside

This organization hosts free group hikes that anyone interested can attend. Black People Outside offers guides, gear and transportation all to help achieve its goal of introducing more people to outdoor adventuring and increasing the visibility of Black people who love the outdoors.

National Brotherhood of Snowsports

Founded in 1973, this nonprofit remains the world’s largest snowsports organization exposing people of color to winter sports. The National Brotherhood of Snowsports boasts a membership of over 5,000 BIPOC snowsports enthusiasts.

Vibe Tribe Adventures

Vibe Tribe Adventures was created to assist minority groups facing barriers in accessing opportunities for outdoor recreation. Each year, the organization hosts an annual beach day, providing free boat rentals, gear rentals and paddle boarding lessons. During the winter months, Vibe Tribe Adventures hosts events to introduce participants to skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and tubing.

The Unpopular Black
