A British tourist fell ill after going for a swim on an Albufeira beach, later suffering a cardiac arrest. The 55-year-old man has not yet been named and was pronounced dead on the beach in Southern Portugal.
Officials confirmed that the man said that he felt ill after getting out of the sea at the Praia dos Alemães beach.
Portugal’s National Maritime Authority said emergency services were dispatched to the beach in Albufeira at about 1:34pm on Thursday. When the ambulance service arrived to the beach, lifeguards and others at the beach were assisting the man. According to The Independent, after attempts to resurrect the man, he was tragically pronounced as dead on the beach.

What happened:
The Independent report that they contacted the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for comment. A post-mortem is expected to be carried out.
A few months previous, another tourist died on the beach after noting that she felt unwell following a swim at the beach. A 45-year-old British woman fell ill after swimming in the sea at Peneco Beach in Albufeira, 1.4 miles away from Praia dos Alemães. The woman collapsed on the beach and tragically, was pronounced dead after attempts to save her life.
