Nashville’s first and only rolled ice cream food truck is heading to a new location.

Rolled4Ever co-owners Bariangela Segovia and Maliyah Bass opened a physical location in October 2020, just two years after launching their food truck.

It’s also the only Black-owned rolled ice cream store in Nashville.

Opening a brick-and-mortar during the pandemic, however, did come with some challenges.

“We only had our food trucks prior to opening so, a lot of our events, including festivals and school events were canceled,” said Bass. “We had to pivot and changed how we generated income. Another challenge we faced while trying to expand during a pandemic, was a lot of people don’t want to bet on you.”

But the two prevailed and business is doing better than expected.

In addition to their new brick-and-mortar, the two have plans to release pints of handcrafted ice cream to sell throughout grocery stores across Nashville.

“It’s what makes us unique. We tapped into a market that was unheard of. It’s rare to see roll ice cream shops owned by people of color,” said Bass. “We try to inspire young girls who come into the shop that they can be whatever they want to be. I have a science degree, and now I own an ice cream shop.”
