An unnamed British woman died on a beach in Portugal after allegedly going for a swim and feeling unwell. The tourist died on September 21 after going into the sea in Albufeira, Portugal in an Algarve resort town. The National Maritime Authority (AMN) released a statement confirming the death of the 45-year-old tourist.
Albufeira is a popular tourist destination in the Algarve, located in the south of the country.
Locals raised the alarm at 1:15pm on the Wednesday of the incident at Peneco Beach. Medical professionals from the National Institute of Medical Emergency tried to resuscitate her. According to regional reports it was too late and they were unable to save her life.

She was pronounced dead on the beach by a doctor. They promptly took her body to the medical office in Portimao, a nearby port city.
Following the incident, a Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We have not been approached for consular assistance but stand ready to provide support if necessary.”
