The scenery of this remote region in South America is often described as “striking.” It’s shared by Chile and Argentina, and attracts adventure-seekers from around the world.

Quasar Expeditions explains, “the scenery  is the result of major glaciological and geological transformations that took place in the region millions of years ago, creating mountains and countless valleys, glaciers, lakes and rivers.”

Expedia writes, “adventure seekers flock to this vast, wild, and remote region in South America for good reason. Often called “the end of the world,” this rugged wilderness rewards intrepid travelers with wind-sculpted glaciers, snow-capped peaks, and prowling mountain lions.”

This dramatic mountain range in southwest Germany is close to France.

The name comes from the dark color of the pine trees native to the region.

According to Just Fun Facts, “the Black Forest region is almost rectangular in shape with a length of 160 kilometers (99 miles) and breadth of up to 60 kilometers (37 miles).”

Expedia explains, “Germany’s most picturesque region rewards visitors with hilltop trails, fairy-tale castles, and quaint villages lined with gingerbread-style houses.”

The second-largest city in Spain is a lively one. Top sites include Sagrada Familia, Park Güell and Las Ramblas, a famous shopping boulevard.

We recently featured Barcelona in our article on sexy cities and regions in Europe.

In addition to the tapas, paella, wine bars and shops, Barcelona has decent beach vibes.

In fact, the Discovery Channel called the city’s Barceloneta Beach the best urban beach in the world.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

We featured the Amalfi Coast in the article referenced above as well.

If you only go to Italy once, make sure this region is part of your itinerary. Great food, beaches, and dramatic drops and dips await.

Expedia writes, “the colorful towns clinging to the Amalfi Coast’s rocky cliffs are perfectly picturesque. Embrace la dolce vita while lazing on pristine beaches, twirling pasta in outdoor cafes, and daring to drive the region’s famously narrow and serpentine roads.”

Santorini, Greece

Mainland Greece and the islands are truly majestic.

Santorini is among the most popular; famed for its natural beauty, ancient history and the warm temperament of the people.

The island’s most famous natural feature is the volcano.

According to Santorini View, “the volcano is responsible for the island’s current shape and morphology. Before the several volcanic eruptions that occurred throughout the years, some of which were submarine, Santorini was a much larger, round island, hence its name used to be Strogili, or circular.”
