This Is The Most Common Cause Of Airport Anxiety
For many people, travel and anxiety go hand in hand. Whether it’s traveling with kids, getting to the airport on time, or soaring 36,000 feet above the ground, anxiety can strike at any time.
In a recent survey, Priority Pass polled 1,720 respondents to learn about their general airport routines and the stresses that trigger them most while traveling. The survey asked travelers to respond to three main questions: What worries you most about the overall airport experience? What are the most stressful stages while traveling to and through an airport? What are the most stressful areas of the departure lounge?
Based on this survey, 49 percent of passengers felt that baggage claim was the most stressful part of traveling in an airport, with security checks and flight transfers coming in tied at second with 47 percent. Third place was checking in, with 43 percent.
However, it seems that the largest worry for travelers doesn’t even occur at the airport. The survey found that 63 percent of travelers worry about getting stuck in traffic and missing their flight altogether. 61 percent of people worried about their bags getting lost.
And their least amount of worry? Losing a child, getting stopped at security, and losing a friend. The survey also revealed that travelers like to head to the bar or partake in duty-free shopping to relieve some of their anxiety.
The takeaway? With the holidays just around the corner, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport and pass through security to ease some of your travel anxiety.
