They based the results on several factors that they felt make for a great spouse and came up with 21 islands with the highest percentage of men with those qualities.
The factors considered were a good sense of humor, love of children, supportiveness, trustworthiness, communication, dependability, and understanding. There was no background on how these factors were chosen or how they were in turn used to actually figure out the men who possessed them.
