Any melanated person who has ever searched for nude toned anything knows the struggle of finding only too-pale shades that are miles away from matching their brown skin. Luckily, that is changing, as more and more brands are creating true nudes to suit people of ALL skin hues, from the lightest to the darkest.

Having undergarments that match your skin tone is just as important as finding the right shade of  foundation. That’s why Nubian Skin founder Ade Hassan launched her lingerie and hosiery brand for people of color. Nubian Skin provides essential underwear items such as slips, bras, shapewear, panties, bodysuits, and hosiery, as well as swimwear and menswear— all in a wide range of beautiful brown hues to represent every melanated skin tone.

Aurora Tights is an athletic apparel company selling tights in five skin-hued shades. The brand was created by a trio comprised of a figure skater, synchronized ice skater, and competitive dancer who all felt underrepresented and marginalized in their respective sports. The ladies teamed up to change that, and now offer durable performance footed tights, over-the-boot tights, transition tights, and stirrup tights in an array of tones to suit all skin complexions.

Kahmune

Kahume was born out of founder and brand director Jamela Acheampong’s search for products to match her darker skin tone. Disappointed with the selection of nude hues available, she purchased a pair of white pumps and some paint, and mixed the colors until she had created the perfect nude to match her skin. Kahume offers premium Italian leather shoes in ten different nude shades that come in many styles and heel heights.
