Have you ever heard of a credit card made out of an airplane? Not only is it a conversation starter, but its a limited-edition piece of history.

American Express and Delta Air Lines unveiled the first credit card design made with a retired Boeing 747 aircraft. The limited-edition card honors the history of aviation travel through its design, which was created with 25% metal from a retired Boeing 747-400, Delta Ship #6307.

The Boeing 747 is the first wide-body jet and is known as the “Queen of the Skies.”

“We’re consistently looking to innovate and raise the bar within the industry. What better way to meet our joint customer base’s needs and surprise them than building a credit card for them,” Anthony Cirri, EVP, Head of Global Consumer Lending and CoBrand at American Express tells Travel Noire.

Cardholders will have access to an exclusive augmented reality experience, showing the history of the Boeing 747. The AR experience also features interviews with Delta pilots and crewmembers and an inside look at how the Delta Ship #6307 was transformed from a passenger plane to a limited-edition card design.
