This month, Airline Ratings announced its Top 20 Airlines In The World list and named Qatar Airlines #1. Airline ratings also shared their Airline Excellence Awards recipients.

To make the list, airlines must achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort. The criteria for the rating include consistency in the level of service, innovation, and staff engagement from each major contender. According to Airline Ratings Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas,“we are focused on leadership and airlines that innovate to make a real difference to the passenger experience.”

  6. Qantas

  12. Virgin Atlantic
  13. Japan Air Lines
  14. JetBlue
  15. Finnair
  16. Emirates
  17. Hawaiian
  18. Air France/KLM
  19. Alaska Airlines

Meanwhile, Air New Zealand is always at the forefront of airline awards because of its constant innovation and industry leadership.

In third place was Etihad Airways -the second flag carrier airline of the United Arab Emirates. Etihad was awarded the inaugural Best Environmental Airlines Award for its leadership in the 787 Greenliner program.

In the fourth spot is Korean Air, followed by Singapore Airlines which received the Best First Class and Best Lounges.

Virgin Australia was in seventh place and also won Best Cabin Crew. Followed by Turkish Airlines in the 9th spot also named Best Airline in Europe.
