Among the list of countries under the advisory updates was Italy. Stating there could be potential acts of terrorism at large public events. Including, sporting events, nightclubs, public transportation, and tourist sites. The State Department also mention that the terrorist would be using “less sophisticated methods” such as firearms and vehicles to hurt crowds.

There is also a “moderate rate of crime” in Italy for U.S. citizens, specifically for theft and economic crimes, not so much violent crimes. These types of crimes include not validating metro tickets properly and being fined or buying counterfeit goods.

Italy is also going through a “moderate rate of crime” such as pickpockets and purse snatchers. Not violent crimes. Mostly getting charged with fines and the buying and selling of counterfeit goods.

Another country issued with a “Level 2” advisory was France. Similar to Italy, France is also prone to terrorist attacks. Their police and military are always patrolling tourist areas and public places for potential threats. Americans should prepare for random inspections in public places and certain private businesses.

As of late, many parisians have been protesting the recent death of Mahsa Amini, who was brutally beaten by police in Tehran for not wearing her hijab in what was deemed a respectable manner. Once the people started protesting they were met with rubber bullets, water cannons, and tear gas. Demonstrations are expected to continue in France and surrounding countries until justice is served.
