The virgin vegans in New York City are about to get the hype dance they didn’t know they needed because Slutty Vegan, the hit Atlanta-based restaurant, is expanding to The Big Apple.
We hate to ruin the experience for the newbies but the hype comes from staff. After you place your order, the team member will ask, “Is this your first time ?” If you say yes, staff will announce, “Hey sluts, we have a virgin in the building” and the party is on.
Good food served with a side of hype? Yes, please!
Slutty Vegan Opening First New York Location
Owner Aisha “Pinky” Cole is opening the first New York location in Brooklyn in Spring 2022. The newest location will open at 690 Fulton Street in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood.
Eater NYC reports Slutty Vegan Brooklyn will take over the space where the Broccoli Bar was located. The former vegan restaurant closed nearly two years after opening in 2020.
It’s an incredible full-circle moment for Cole because her first restaurant ever was in Harlem, as Veg Out Magazine points out. The non-vegan restaurant, Pinky’s Jamaican & American Restaurant, closed in 2016 after a fire.
“It’s an honor to be opening a concept in such an established space, just down the street from where Biggie Smalls grew up, and to bring more delicious vegan food to the Brooklyn community,” Cole stated in a news release.
In addition to Brooklyn, Cole is planning to open locations in Athens, Georgia; Baltimore, Maryland, and Birmingham, Alabama.
Be sure to follow the brand on Instagram for the latest information on grand opening dates.
We’re excited to see what this Black-owned business is going to do next!
