Orlando is gearing up for a summer full of exciting events, delicious food, and a diverse community that seeks to embrace cultures from all backgrounds coming together. City officials attest that pride events in Orlando are an opportunity for welcoming LGBTQ+ tourists from all over the world. Orlando has been a pioneer among vacation spots for the LGBTQ+ community ever since the first Gay Days party was held there in 1991.
In addition to the annual Gay Days party, Orlando hosts a variety of LGBTQ+ events throughout the year, including concerts, film festivals, and drag shows. The city also boasts a number of LGBTQ-owned businesses and establishments, making it a truly inclusive destination for travelers.
Here is the list of events that will be held all through June to celebrate pride in Orlando:
Gay Days (May 31-June 5)
Gay Days is an annual celebration for the LGBTQ community that features a wide variety of events at well-known landmarks, gay and lesbian clubs, and other one-of-a-kind settings. The event has been taking place since 1991 and is considered one of the largest LGBTQ celebrations in the world. Other events to look out for include pride parades, film festivals, art exhibits, and concerts featuring LGBTQ artists.
Girls in Wonderland (June 1-5)
Equal to Gay Days but aimed at lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer women, Girls in Wonderland hosts events such as parties, concerts, and appearances by famous people in the LGBTQ community. This annual event takes place in Orlando, Florida, and attracts thousands of women from all over the world.
One Magical Weekend (June 1-5)
This is one of the largest LGBTQ+ pride and music festivals worldwide, and it takes place every year on the first weekend of June, hence the name “One Magical Weekend.” The event features a variety of activities, including pool parties, live performances, and themed events. It provides a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate their identities and connect with others who share similar experiences.
Tidal Wave Party (June 1-5)
Guests can make a splash at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park with a variety of special events and activities, including a private party called the Tidal Wave Party and a “Bearaoke” contest where guests can sing their hearts out. This event is perfect for those who want to have fun and meet new people while enjoying the water park’s thrilling attractions.
RED Shirt Pride Day (June 3)
Visitors are encouraged to wear red shirts to Magic Kingdom Park on the first Saturday of June in honor of the original group of 30–40 “kindred spirits” who met there in 1991. It was their bravery that allowed what was originally a social gathering to become one of the longest-running and most iconic events in the history of the LGBTQ+ community.
Annual Pulse Remembrance Ceremony (June 12)
Created with the intention of inspiring others with feelings of compassion, togetherness, acceptance, bravery, and strength, this annual event has been held at the Pulse Interim Memorial since its inception on June 12, 2016, paying tribute to the 49 people who lost their lives there that day.
