Fans of “Phantom of the Opera,” rejoice!

Within the last few years, Airbnb has put together some of the most incredible stays imaginable, and this Paris stay is no different.

From private islands to luxury penthouses, and secluded cabins in the wilderness to fancy yachts, Airbnb has pretty much done it all. Last year, they offered “Lord Of The Rings” fans the opportunity to stay in the actual Hobbit homes in the hills of New Zealand.

Well, now, people who love the “Phantom of the Opera” are in for a treat. Airbnb customers can now choose to stay in the Palais Garnier in Paris, which is the theater home to the “Phantom of the Opera.”

About The Palais Garnier

The Palais Garnier is not just any old theater. It is a landmark in Paris. Some consider it to be the most famous opera house in the world. The theater was built between the years 1861 and 1875 and was originally named Salle des Capucines after the renowned street, Boulevard des Capucines in Paris’s 9th district.

Eventually, the theater was named after its architect, Charles Garnier. The theater is now only used for ballet after the opening of the Opera Bastille. The French made Palais Garnier an official landmark in 1923.

What makes the theater even more special is its relationship to Gaston Leroux, who wrote the “Phantom of the Opera” in 1909. Since then, his book has had many stage and film adaptations. The most memorable is Andrew Lloyd Weber’s 1986 version of the film.

Leroux’s great-granddaughter, Veronique will host the Airbnb experience at the Palais Garnier.

“My great-grandfather’s classic story has inspired so many people through the years,” Leroux said. “This is the perfect time to honor him and welcome ‘phans’ to the famous setting of his much-loved novel for a once-in-a-lifetime stay.”

The actual stay in the Box Of Honour is the best location to see the theater’s beauty and architecture. ‘Phans’ will also receive a private tour of the Palais, get to see private archives and the underground lake that has rarely been seen by the general public. They will also get their own private ballet performance from the Paris Opera Academy, along with champagne and hors d’oeuvres.

Also included with the stay is a dinner for two in the lavish Foyer De La Danse, which is the backstage area where the dancers normally warm-up before their performances.

AirBnB’s Mission For The Palais Garnier

Proceeds from the stay at the Palais will go towards the theater’s restoration. They also are going to assist in helping the theater develop a live-streaming platform for the Palais Garnier, so the world can have access to their current shows.

Paris

As if Paris didn’t have enough to see, a stay at the Palais Garnier is just a bonus to what the city of love offers. If you are visiting Paris any time soon you should look into this experience.

However, there’s a fantastic amount of monuments and architecture to see. The food in Paris is absolutely exceptional, so let loose and be open to trying all that Paris has to offer. Embrace a new culture while you are in the country, and be aware that the French are very vocal about their feelings.
