Where?

The Bach Long bridge, which translates to “white dragon” is located in northwestern Vietnam, Moc Chau District, Son La province. This area is a popular tourist destination and has waterfalls, forests, bat caves, tea plantations, and lakes.

What can visitors expect?

Visitors crossing the bridge can take in stunning panoramic views of the abundant mountain rainforest. The bridge connects travelers to a mountain resort.

“When standing on the bridge, travelers will be able to admire the beauty of nature,” says Hoang Manh Duy, a representative of the operator.

Measuring 2,073 feet in length and suspended about 492 feet above the ground, the bridge can hold up to 450 visitors at once. SUVs can also be driven over the bridge, with one being tested for the bridge’s strength recently.

Building the bridge is a collaboration between local tourism boards in Vietnam and a French construction company. This joint effort is to help tourism thrive again after the pandemic. Vietnam had to shut its borders to international travelers because of COVID-19.

Glen Pollard, a representative of Guinness World Record says, “The engineering required to build that into the side of a cliff but maintain all the features of nature, the greenery, the rocks, it’s been an amazing project.”

Prior to Vietnam, the longest glass-bottom bridge is located in Guangdong, China, and is 1,726 feet long.
