Livraria Lello is one of the oldest bookstores in the world. It was first opened by brothers Jose and Antonio de Lello in 1906. It has been a landmark since then and is considered to be a top tourist destination. 

The most important thing about Livraria Lello is its architecture. It is said that it was inspired by neo-Gothic architecture. It is said that J.K.Rowling was inspired by the design of Livraria Lello which has the oldest and rarest books of any bookstore in the world. 

2. Portuguese Cuisine

Porto is well known for its extraordinary culinary skills. There are many restaurants that offer local food. ‘Francesinha’ is a must-try if you visit Porto. It means “little Frenchie”. ‘Francesinha’ is a sandwich that is made with steak, ham, and sausage, loaded with cheese and beer sauce, topped with a fried egg, and served with French fries. Other than ‘Francesinha‘, Porto is quite known for ‘Tripas à Moda do Porto’, ‘Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá’, and ‘the bifanas.’ These dishes can be found at any local restaurant in Porto.

São Francisco is one of Porto’s major landmarks. This church was built in the 14th century to commemorate St. Francis of Assisi. UNESCO has named this place a world heritage. São Francisco is called the “gold church” since there are gold designs inside the church. Its interior inspired by its Baroque inspired designs while the exterior is more or less similar to a gothic look.

Douro Valley is world-renowned for its excellent wines and Port wine stands out from all the other varieties. If you are more curious about wine production, you can take a tour of wine cellars. At the same time, there is a port wine museum in the Alfândega and the Port wine cellars at the Cais de Gaia to visit. At the end of these tours, you get a tasting session as well. 

5. Luis I Bridge

Luis I Bridge is one of the main tourist attractions in Porto. This is the bridge that connects Porto city to Vila Nova de Gaia. The bridge is 385 meters in length and its length is 45 meters. The bridge consists of two platforms: on the lower platform cars and pedestrians, with traffic, and on the upper platform pedestrians and the train passes through. Tourist stand on the bridge or on either side to take in the breathtaking views of the city.
