25 Countries U.S. Citizens Can Visit With, Or Without, A COVID-19 Vaccine

Madagascar has allowed tourism travel since late October. Be sure to take a PCR test within 72 hours of departure, and be prepared to take another upon arrival. Last, fill out some paperwork online and book 2 nights at an approved hotel to self-isolate while waiting for your results.

Visitors entering the Maldives must have a PCR test taken within 4 days of arrival. Another test is taken upon landing. Vaccinated guests may travel freely, while unvaccinated guests must stay on approved islands. Fill out your Traveler Health Declaration at least 48 hours prior to take-off.

Fill out a Bahamas Travel Health Visa (takes about 48 hours to complete) and present a negative PCR test within 72 hours of flying into the country. If entering Nassau from another island in the Bahamas, another PCR test is required. (Or, proof of vaccination will work instead.)

Download the app, BeAwareBahrain before travel. Bring proof of a negative PCR test (it must include a QR code). Take another test upon arriving and quarantine the first week of vacation. Then, feel free to enjoy the sites of Bahrain.

When flying into Belize, you may choose to have a Covid test upon landing. Or, you can provide your own negative rapid test results from within 48 hours of entry. Belize requires it’s tourists to have travel insurance as well.

Before visiting Benin, be sure you have an eVisa. It’s a pretty simple process and allows travel for U.S. citizens for up to 90 days. Have your PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival. If you’re visiting for more than 2 weeks, there will be another round of testing.

Traveling to Bolivia from the United States requires travel insurance that covers COVID-19 illnesses while visiting. Two tests are required. One test 72 hours before departure and one 72 hours after arrival. No curfews are currently in place, so feel free to roam day and night in Bolivia.

Botswana travel is open to travelers willing to take a PCR test within 72 hours of departure and again upon arriving in the country. Another is required 72 hours before leaving the country as well.

Note that, according to the U.S. Embassy’s website, “As of February 14, 2022, all travelers into Botswana require either proof of having been fully vaccinated or a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their arrival in Botswana followed by vaccination at the port of entry on arrival at no cost.”

A face mask is required throughout Burkina Faso, but to enter the country all you need to have is a negative PCR test that is less than 5 days old when you arrive. You may choose to get tested upon arrival and pay out of pocket for the test. However, you won’t be allowed to leave until the test results come back.

Expect to have your temperature checked upon arrival in Cape Verde. Bring along your COVID test results from within 48 hours of departure, and fill out a health questionnaire when you land.  Certification of recovery or a vaccination can be shown in lieu of a recent COVID test.

International visitors coming into Cameroon must present a negative COVID test within 48 hours of arrival and again 48 hours before departing the country. Test results must be registered before departing from the U.S.

Bringing tourism to Chad could help it’s economy, and it’s people, greatly. Visiting can easily be done with proof of a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of departure. Another test will be required before leaving Chad.

Costa Rica is one of the rare countries that doesn’t require a COVID test to enter. To enter, you must have completed the Health Pass within 72 hours, which states if you don’t have a vaccine you must have an “insurance policy for medical expenses associated with COVID-19.

Arrive in the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire and take a PCR test within 72 hours landing to be in line with the rules of this country on the Ivory Coast. Fill out the online declaration and you are good to go.

Fill out the Cypress Flight Pass, and you’re halfway into the country of Cyprus. Have your negative PCR test dated in the last 72 hours with you at the airport and be ready to take another test upon arrival. Self-quarantine for up to 24 hours while you wait for your results.

Everyone visiting the Dominican Republic must submit to a temperature check upon arrival and complete an e-ticket before departing your U.S. airport. If you have taken a PCR test or are vaccinated, you can skip the random COVID-19 testing at the airport.

Although the rules behind visiting the Dutch Caribbean are convoluted, each island is allowing both vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers. The requirements vary, but you will need to have a PCR test ahead of time. Be aware of which islands you plan to visit because requirements of quarantine vary from none to self-isolation for up to 10 days.

Present proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departing the States, or have your vaccination card. Fill out the Declaration of Traveler Health and you are ready to travel to Ecuador.

Even if you are vaccinated, the CDC warns that when visiting Egypt, “most U.S. vaccination cards, including those issued by the Centers for Disease Control, do not include a QR code required by the Government of Egypt, and, as a result most U.S. vaccination cards are not accepted by Egyptian authorities.”

Take a PCR test up to 72 hours before departure. Health insurance covering COVID may also be required.

There is a 9 p.m. curfew in Gabon for unvaccinated residents and unvaccinated visitors alike. Show a negative PCR test taken within 3 days of arrival, and take another upon arrival.

Wait in quarantine at a pre-approved hotel for up to 24 hours while waiting for your 2nd set of results to come in. Masks are to be worn inside and outside, as well as in vehicles with 2 or more occupants.

All unvaccinated visitors must present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure for Gambia. Testing upon arrival may or may not occur. There are currently no curfews, public transportation is operating and there are no limits on gatherings.

Take your PCR test within 48 hours before arriving to Guinea for a stress-free arrival. There may be one more test given at the airport before you are free to enjoy your trip. When ready to leave, be sure to take another PCR test within 72 hours of departing for home.

Iceland has lifted all of their restrictions on travel to their country. According to the Government of Iceland’s news tab, “no disease prevention measures will be in place at the border, regardless of whether individuals are vaccinated or unvaccinated.”

The Prime Minister urges the country to remain vigilant in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Fill out the entry card online or on the airplane while en route, and make sure you have taken a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arrival. Other than this, you are free to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Jamaica.
