True Colors Theatre
Award-winning playwright and director Kenny Leon started the True Colors Theatre Company to celebrate black storytelling while giving a voice to other cultures. Currently playing is Nina Simone: Four Women, a play about women who suffer from self hatred due to colorism.
In 1989, community activist Adigun Kazemde Ajamu began connecting more with his Afrikan roots and want to help spread the message of Black positivity, the Afrikan community, and consciousness. Come and enjoy live performances of spoken word, cultured lectures, gatherings and networking. The Black Dot Cultural Center is a coffee shop and also selling exclusive jewelry, art, clothing and other gifts.
The Gathering Spot
Need to get some work done. Founded by entrepreneurs Ryan Wilson and TK Petersen, The Gathering Spot acts as a safe haven for entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives with a luxury work environment. It’s also has a bar and restaurant geared towards other entrepreneurs, artists, and creatives. Although the facility is for members only, they host weekly, sometimes, nightly networking and cultural events open to all.
This unique tattoo parlor and art gallery located in Atlanta’s Old 4th Ward. Artist and Owner Miya Bailey hopes for this space to become a breeding place for artists, creatives to showcase their work.
Iwi Fresh Garden Day Spa and Atlanta
Known as the skincare chef, Yolanda Owens uses fresh hand-picked fruits, vegetables, herbs, and oils from the garden to create skincare recipes for long-lasting results. The skincare line turned into a full day spa including veggie facial and nail services with everything made from scratch.
Busy Bee Cafe’s Fried Chicken
This sultry soul food restaurant offers some of the city’s best fried chicken and world-class southern food. Opened in 1947, the cafe’s name was inspired after a trip to California by owner Tracy Gates.
