Surely no one imagined a winter getaway with news that armed military will police popular beaches? Beaches in popular winter getaway destinations will be policed by armed military forces, for security. Many of these beaches can be found in Mexico in destinations such as Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cancun and even further north in Los Cabos.
The armed military personnel has been deployed to ensure that many have the safest vacation possible. Some of the destinations are reported as Level 2 designation and others higher. Here are some of the destinations where you can expect armed military to police popular beaches.

In Mexico, some destinations include Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
The U.S. have recommended increased caution when visiting Quintana Roo. This has a lot to do with recent shootings in popular tourist locations. The advisory mentioned that “While not directed at tourists, shootings between rival gangs have injured innocent bystanders. Additionally, U.S. citizens have been the victims of both non-violent and violent crimes in tourist and non-tourist areas.”

Other destinations include Los Cabos, Mazatlán in Sinaloa state, Acapulco in Guerrero state and Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco.
Another popular beach destination that expects to see higher levels of military presence is Sosua Beach in the Dominican Republic.
