It’s a trendy and upbeat area with a diverse array of attractions, cultural experiences, restaurants, and bars. There’s plenty to see and do when in Waterloo. From learning about Aboriginal culture and art to climbing on playgrounds draped in imagination, Waterloo is a fun travel experience for folks of all ages.

Waterloo Skate Park

For a dose of local life, high energy, and concrete adventure, travelers can venture over to the Waterloo Fernside Skate Park. This concrete jungle is a hotspot for skaters in the area. You’ll find people skateboarding and rollerblading any day at this neighborhood staple. The 920 sqm park was designed by ex-pro skater Chad Ford and attracts skaters all year long. The park is the first of its kind in the Waterloo neighborhood.

Wulaba Park

For those traveling to Sydney with little ones, be sure to stop by Wulaba Park. This playground is an adventure wonderland. Designed by Sydney artist Nuha Saad, the playground is a slew of colors, mixed materials, and raised forts. It’s designed to resemble a play tower and there’s fun around every bend so your kids will have a blast. There’s a little bit of everything a child traveler could imagine in this Waterloo play hub. From giant slides and swings to climbing robes to tunnels, this playground is a child’s imagination brought to life. 

Powerhouse Museum

The Powerhouse Museum is the largest museum group in Australia. The museum showcases a plethora of collections from a variety of realms. This is the perfect place for travelers who love science and learning. The Sydney Observatory is located at the museum and visitors can learn about astrology and meteorology and also see rare, scientific artifacts.  The museum is a hub for scientific and nature studies in Australia. 

Coogee Coastal Walk

Travelers in Waterloo can spend an entire day walking along the Coogee Coastal Walk. The walk usually takes two to three hours to complete. However, there’s so much to see and do along the path. Some of Sydney’s best beaches can be seen from the coastal walk including Tamarama, Coogee, and Bondi Beach. The National Surfing Reserve is located there as well as as Gordon’s Bay, a popular spot for diving and snorkeling.   

BridgeClimb Sydney

The Sydney Harbor Bridge is an Australian icon. Many travelers in Sydney make it a point to go see the bridge. BridgeClimb Sydney is a great way to experience the bridge with the best views. Instead of driving across the bridge or gazing at it from afar, travelers can get up close and climb to the top. There are multiple different climbs to choose from with each one providing an incredible view of Sydney’s landscape.

The Cooee Art Leven was created in 1981. Today, the gallery is home to over 3000 pieces of art from over 150 artists showcasing Aboriginal life in Australia. Cooee Art Leven is the oldest indigenous gallery in Australia and includes rare bark paintings, sculptures, artifacts, and books. The gallery gives travelers a look at the beauty of indigenous art.
