The Amalfi coast is a tourist magnet – one of the biggest attractions in Italy. The mountainous coastline South of Naples and North of Salerno provides scenic views of the coast with its typical steep mountains meeting the coastline and beautiful weather and rich history and old preserved architecture is a perfect place for vacation. The coast is well connected with roads and railway and served with numerous hotels and restaurants.

Here are some of the things you should do when you visit Amalfi Coast.

Visit Sorrento Town

Sorrento is a small town located on the northern tip of the Amalfi Coast. It is a beautiful town in a scenic location.  Other than the beautiful coastline and streets, Sorrento has places of interest worth visiting such as the millennium-old Cathedral of Sorrento. For some good history classes, you could also visit the Correale Museum and the Museo della Tarsia Lignea – both of which provide some fascinating artifacts and displays.

Admire the pastel-colored houses of Positano

Positano is a picturesque town on the coast of Amalfi with brightly colored houses and beautiful scenery of hills meeting the coastline. The town is on the southern tip of the Amalfi Coast and is accessible by bus. Remember to take a boat and take some gorgeous photos of the town from the sea.

Visit Praiano

This small town is located between Amalfi and Positano. It is a quieter town than most of the other towns on the Amalfi coast and a perfect place to relax and breathe.  It’s the typical Amalfi town with hills meeting the coast and terraced buildings with bright colors.

Visit the town of Amalfi

Amalfi is the de facto capital of the Amalfi Coast – it is the largest and definitely most developed of them all. It also offers the typical Amalfi town experience of brightly colored houses and hills meeting the coastline. Here you can also visit the Piazza del Duomo cathedral with its opulent stonework pattern. You could also walk down the promenade and do lots of sightseeing.

Head up to the heights of Ravello

Ravello offers the best views of the Amalfi Coast. The town is high in the hills between Amalfi and Maiori. At Villa Rufollo, you’ll get the best views from the town that offers the best views of the Amalfi Coast.

Go to the Beach at Maiori

Maiori offers the best beaches on the Amalfi Coast. The town also has a myriad of shops and cafes where you can stop after a day of relaxing.

Watch the fishing fleets at Cetara

This village is one of the most preserved on the coast of Amalfi. They still fish almost the same way they did a century ago. Here you can experience what the Amalfi coast looked like before influence from the rest of the world. The area also offers lots of exotic restaurants and eateries.

Take a boat tour into the Grotta dello Smeraldo Cave

The Emerald cave is a natural cave located between Amalfi and Praiano. The cave is accessed via an elevator on the SS163 route and then you can climb on one of the boats for a guided tour of this superb natural subterranean environment.
