Born and raised in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, Alnie Innocent wanted to find a way to give back to her home country’s economy while also allowing people from all over to discover the delicious foods she grew up eating.

In 2018, the 33-year-old launched the Taste of Haiti box in Little Haiti, Miami to accomplish just that.

All boxes are filled with 100% authentic imported Haitian products, which customers can enjoy without having to stamp their passports or leave the comfort of their homes.

The box is available as a bi-monthly subscription but can also be purchased individually.

“I created Taste of Haiti to teach the world about the riches of Haitian culture,” says Alnie to Travel Noire. “I hope to change mindsets and allow people to experience Haiti’s exotic delights wherever they are. I also want to cure the nostalgia of Haitians craving a taste of back home.”

The Taste of Haiti box features books, beauty products, recipes, baking goods, artisanal jewelry, and all types of various food and beverage products made in Haiti.

“There are not a lot of Haitian products that are actually MADE in Haiti on the market, so I wanted to change that by featuring only authentic goods. All of our items come from Haiti-based merchants, artisans, and businesses.”

Products found in the Taste of Haiti box include spicy peanut butter, grapefruit and other flavors of jam, coffee, hot sauce, chocolate bars, spices, soup, hot cocoa, tea, and castor oil to name a few.

“As long as it’s made in Haiti, it’s a contender for going in the box,” she said.

The box features a different theme every other month, ensuring that subscribers will always get to try new and unique items. Past themes have included the Premier box, the Independence box, the Sweet box, the Cooking box, the Beauty box, and the Summer box.

In addition to their box, Taste of Haiti also has one of the largest online retail stores for Haitian goods.

“The marketplace section of our website is where people can buy individual items of their choice. You may discover something you love in a box and wish to order more of it individually. Our goal is to become the next Walmart or Amazon for all things Haitian.”

There is much more to come from Taste of Haiti. Currently in the works are a children’s box, a wholesale market, and a multi box collection.

You can subscribe to receive the Taste of Haiti box for $49.99 every other month or purchase a single box for $59.99. Visit www.tasteofhaitibox.com to place an order and follow @tasteofhaitibox for updates.
