July 25–28, 2024 saw the victorious return of San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) to the San Diego Convention Center, bringing an onslaught of pop cultural enthusiasm and fan zeal. Over 150,000 people from all over the globe showed up to Comic-Con after it overcame the obstacles posed by the COVID-19 outbreak. This year’s convention sprang into action after a muted 2023 owing to Hollywood strikes. Panels, movies, and exclusive revelations that ignited social media were all on the agenda for the event.
With this year’s event, the convention returned to its roots and gave fans what they wanted: an immersive, in-person experience. While Marvel Studios reclaimed its throne as the king of Hall H, Funko went all out for collectors of their toys who also love to travel. The “Funkoville International Airport” exhibit was the place to be at the convention. Additionally, the company hosted “Freddy’s Funtastic Voyage,” a pirate-themed event at the Manchester Grand Hyatt on Friday and Saturday.
