Warmer temps means festival season is upon us. Although there are a variety of festivals all throughout the year, there’s nothing like a dope summer fest.

Check out the best summer festivals that will take place in California this year.

Coachella

The Mecca of music festivals in California. Last year, we watched Beyoncé snatch our edges with her ode to Black colleges and culture. This year, her little sister Solange will take the stage as well as Janelle Monáe and Childish Gambino. This year’s Coachella will take place April 12-14 and April 19-21. While this isn’t technically summer, you can’t mention Cali festivals without Coachella.

Black Women in Comedy Festival

This one day event will take place on May 18. The festival pays homage to women who have made an impact in the world of comedy. It will be held at Tao Comedy Studio in Los Angeles. In addition to celebrating Black women in comedy, there will be a “TWERKCON” show that day from 6-8pm.

Playboy Jazz Festival

George Lopez will be the MC of this two-day event held at the Hollywood Bowl June 8-9. Headliners include the legendary Sheila E. and Kool and the Gang.

Cuban American Music Festival

The third installment of this Los Angeles festival will celebrate all things music in the Cuban culture. The event will take place on May 19 at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. In addition to the music, guests can sit down at a dominoes table, check out art exhibits, as well as get dances lessons.

BottleRock Festival

This summer music fest will take place in Napa Valley May 24-26. Notable performers include Pharrell, Too Short, and Big Boi. The festival features music, food, and wine and beer.

Outside Lands

Going down August 9-11, you’ll be able to catch Childish Gambino, Ella Mai, Lil Wayne and a host of others during this three-day music experience. This festival is held at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Tickets are now on sale.

LA Wine Fest

When you mix wine with a festival you are guaranteed to be in your happy place. On June 1 and 2, Los Angeles will celebrate all things wine during this two-day event.

Burning Man

While this isn’t your traditional festival, it’s definitely an experience that you don’t to miss. Burning Man is literally a man-made city constructed in the middle of the desert for this once a year event. It will be held this year from August 25 -September 2.
