If the thought of moving to another country excites you, keep reading. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) just released its 2022 Global Liveability Index. This index ranks the most liveable cities in the world on factors such as crime rate, health care, infrastructure, political stability, and access to green space. 173 cities were ranked and 6 European cities were in the top 11.
“Cities that were towards the top of our rankings before the pandemic have rebounded on the back of their stability, good infrastructure and services, as well as enjoyable leisure activities,” wrote the authors of the index.
Auckland, New Zealand won last year, but this year landed at 34th place. Australia also dropped in rankings this year, with Melbourne coming in at 10th place.
Surprisingly, London and Paris did not make the list. The rise in living expenses in both cities played a huge role in rankings.
Canada is the most liveable country in the world, with three Canadian cities topping the list.
