With the funeral procession over and Queen Elizabeth II laid to rest, Buckingham Palace has released a new monogram, which will appear on state documents and post boxes.
According to Insider, “the monogram consists of Charles’ first initial, and the initial of his title, Rex — Latin for King — alongside a crown.”
The press release provided by Buckingham Palace mentions that Charles selected the monogram from a few proposed options. Scotland will have a slightly different version that features the Scottish crown.
The Royal Family Channel on Twitter released a comparison photo of Elizabeth’s monogram alongside that of her eldest son.
Also, the Twitter page for the royal family now shows King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, who is now Queen consort. Paired with a photo of Queen Elizabeth II when she was younger, the caption reads:
“The period of Royal Mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has now ended. This account will continue to reflect the work of The King, The Queen Consort and other members of The Royal Family, as well as remembering the life and work of Queen Elizabeth.”
It remains to be seen exactly how Charles intends to rule, especially in light of the fact that several Commonwealth nations have made clear their intention to break away from Britain.
Barbados is the most recent country to free itself. The leaders of Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis and Antigua and Barbuda have all expressed a desire to follow suit and usher in a new, long- delayed start.
