Traveler Jordan tells Travel Noire about his journey through Grenada, a picture-perfect jewel in the Caribbean.

Travel Noire: Why did you decide to go Grenada?

Jordan: It had always been on my list of Caribbean islands to visit. I love small islands because you can do everything in a short amount of time.

Travel Noire: When did you begin planning your trip?

Jordan: Planning started in March and the trip was scheduled for April.

Travel Noire: Did you go alone or with friends?

Jordan: I almost never travel alone. I went with my friends Dane and Jewelz.

Travel Noire: How much was your plane ticket?

Jordan: I caught a really good rate on Skyscanner so my round-trip was around $250.

Travel Noire: What were your accommodations like?

Jordan: I stayed in an Airbnb close to Grand Anse Beach. I choose this location being it was pretty central to most of the places I planned on visiting. Also, there was a supermarket and a number of restaurants in the area, which were walking distance from the apartment.

Travel Noire: Where were your favorite places to eat?

Jordan: In any Caribbean island you have to eat at KFC. Most people will probably think “Why KFC? They have that in America, and it isn’t that good,” but if you ask any Caribbean-born person living in the states, they will tell you KFC just tastes different in the Caribbean.l

Another place I visited was Umbrellas Beach Bar. They have an extensive drink menu, sandwiches, fresh fish, salads, and snacks, and you can’t beat the location and view.

Travel Noire: What was the coolest thing you did?

Jordan: Hiking through the rainforest. The hike is about 30-40 minutes, but you can never go wrong with so many beautiful trees and plants, I could’ve stayed there forever. At the end of the hike was the waterfall, and the natural waters to swim in, a wonderful refresher after a long trek.

Travel Noire: What was the highlight of your trip?

Without a doubt the Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park. Exploring the underwater park was an amazing experience. There are so many sculptures and they’re fun to discover as you’re just swimming about. The history of this dive site is educational and the visit there is awesome. The sculptures are all life-size and consist of men, women and children.

Travel Noire: What surprised you the most about Grenada?

Jordan: How easy it was to get around. Taxi rates were very reasonably priced.

Travel Noire: Would you go back to Grenada?

Jordan: I would go back for sure. Any place that has beautiful beaches, waterfalls, and just good vibes in general, I’m always down to revisit.
