Imagine enjoying your cruise, then finding a hidden camera. That’s exactly what happened to one passenger, who was using a public bathroom on board Harmony of the Seas, one of the Royal Caribbean fleet.

The ship departed Miami on April 29. Over the course of a week, it had stops in St. Martin, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.

A Gross Violation of Privacy

The passenger, who wasn’t named, discovered the hidden camera on May 1, 2023. They alerted the crew.

According to Business Insider, “a hidden camera with WiFi capabilities was placed [by the culprit] in a public bathroom on the ship’s top deck.”

After removing the camera, the authorities found hours of footage, showing some 150 passengers. At least 40 of them were minors, around the age of 4 or 5.

At one point, the culprit himself appeared in the footage. He was adjusting the position of the camera “so that it would focus on the toilet.”

There Was an Arrest

The culprit, Jeremy Froias, said he had set up the camera when questioned by authorities.

He faces charges of video voyeurism and attempted possession of child exploitation material among other things.

The FBI is trying to identify the victims. They believe Froias “primarily targeted cruise ship passengers between the time frame of April 30 and May 1, 2023.”

Those who used the bathroom during that period may well have been in the video.
