Unofficially, Labor Day marks the end of summer and the last chance for people to take full advantage of being outdoors before fall. Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is officially an annual celebration of American workers’ social and economic achievements that gives people an extra day off from work.

AAA predicts more people are traveling for Labor Day 2023 than in 2022, as agency data shows domestic bookings are up by 4%. According to AAA, the top five destinations are Seattle, Orlando, Anchorage, New York, and Las Vegas.

Denver, Colorado is doing it right for Labor Day Weekend. Flights are reasonably priced, and city leaders are highlighting hotels that are perfect for getaways during the long weekend. There’s much to do in the Mile High City between the Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver Art Museum, Denver Zoo, Red Rocks Park, and Amphitheatre. 

The best way to see top attractions is with the Denver City Pass. You can choose between visiting three to five attractions starting at $43 on Expedia. This allows you to save both time and money.

Spending the last summer holiday in the nation’s capital means you should prepare your bellies for what’s to come. Labor Day weekend marks Summer Restaurant Week in Washington, D.C. More than 150 restaurants are participating with specialized menus and pricing.

Don’t worry about gaining weight because there’s plenty to do to keep you active. Dance the evening away at the D.C. JazzFest, kayak while sightseeing on the Potomac River, or hit the ground running (or walking) along the National Mall.

Like Washington, D.C., Portland plans to bring D.C.’s best jazz musicians to the Pacific Northwest at the Montavilla Jazz Festival. Travelers also can’t miss the Dahlia Festival, where visitors can stroll through more than 35 acres of beautiful dahlia flowers.
