The bear, whose name is Angela, is prompting people to compare her human-like appearance to someone in a bear suit. Since the video went viral on social media, the zoo has seen a 30 percent increase in visitors.

In the video that captivated online audiences, Angela the Malayan Sun bear can be seen standing on its hind legs and stretching its neck out to observe the visitors outside its enclosure before sitting back down. Some people jokingly remarked that the bear resembled someone wearing a bear suit, applauding the authenticity of the video’s special effects.

Zoo Confirms It’s A Bear

Hangzhou Zoo responded to the rumors, assuring the public that Angela is indeed a bear and not a human in disguise. The zoo dismissed any possibility that situation occurring. A staff member refuted the claims.

“The temperature in the summer is nearly 40 degrees,” the staff member said. “If you put on a fur suit, you certainly couldn’t last more than a few minutes without lying down.”

PETA Chimes In

Despite the popularity of the viral video, animal rights group PETA has used the incident to advocate for better treatment. PETA’s Asia Vice President Jason Baker called for the relocation of zoo animals to sanctuaries and wildlife reserves. He asserted that these intelligent and social beings deserve to live freely and thrive in their natural environment rather than being used for human entertainment.
