Akon has been busy doing his part to promote economic development in Africa. He has been heavily urging Black Americans and those in the Diaspora to buy up property in Ghana.

But, Akon is up to so much more.

If you’ve been keeping up with him over the last year or so, you’d know he has been giving us glimpses into his latest project in Senegal and as of today, the agreement for Akon City in Senegal has been finalized.

Construction for the development began in March of last year and there is said to be a phase two beginning in 2025. As of now the city will run entirely off of solar power and will use Akon’s cryptocurrency, Akoin and will have its own airport.

There is no word on when the doors to the city will open but there will be an airport for travelers to come in and out of.

“Looking forward to hosting you there in the future, Akon said in an interview with Nick Cannon.”

Are you excited for this new futuristic city?
