Georgia resident Monica Gilliam took to TikTok to recount American Airlines losing her child on a flight from Chattanooga to Miami.
Allegedly, Gilliam received a phone call from American Airlines noting that her 12-year-old daughter was missing. Instead of being escorted off the plane, Gilliam’s daughter was left on her own without intervention. The 12-year-old was left nervous and alone in the Tennessee airport.
Gilliam reported that the trip began smoothly when she accompanied her daughter to the airport to check her daughter in. The airline was aware that her daughter was an unaccompanied minor. In an interview , Gilliam stated that “They give you a lanyard for your child to wear […} and it’s got all of the child’s information inside it — their boarding pass, which lets everybody know that they’re not traveling with an adult”.
American Airlines lost the child despite Gilliam paying an additional $150 to ensure that her child was escorted directly to her father waiting once the plane landed.

Gilliam added in an interview with NewsChannel 9 in Chattanooga; “And I have no faith in them at all now, because they didn’t do their job. And they lost my child.” In a TikTok with over 1.8M views, Gilliam recounts her disappointment in the airline.
