If you’re in NYC this summer, you’re in for a treat.

NYC Restaurant Week is back and it started this week.

There are over 400 restaurants to choose from all across NYC’s five boroughs.

So if you’re ready to explore different countries through food; NYC Restaurant Week is sure to satisfy your culinary wanderlust — sans plane ticket and passport.

Tracy Nieporent, chairman of NYC Restaurant Week, tells CBS New York in an on-air interview: “You can really travel the world without ever leaving the city limits.”

There are over 30 different ethnicities of food, including: Asian, Australian, Brazilian, British, Chinese, Cuban, French, Greek, Hawaiian, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese, amongst others. If you’re craving something familiar, you can opt for pizza, steak and/or seafood.

NYC Restaurant Week runs for four weeks, despite the name. You can enjoy ethnic fine dining from Monday, July 22 to Friday, August 16, 2019.

According to Forbes, the purpose of Restaurant Week is so diners could have a chance to experience Prix-fix menus at NYC’s fine dining restaurants.

You can enjoy a 2-course lunch for $26 or a 3-course dinner for $42.

Restaurant Week happens twice a year, in January and July, which are traditionally considered slower times in the restaurant industry.

NYC created Restaurant Week in 1992 and is the first in the nation to do so. Other cities have created their own versions of Restaurant Week in the past few years but NYC takes the cake for the largest celebration.

If you have your taste buds set on a specific restaurant, it is advised to make a reservation because popular restaurants get booked quickly.

Just head to the official Restaurant Week website to view all participating restaurants — you can even search by type of cuisine and location.
