T-Mobile is providing benefits that are perfect for travelers on the go. “Coverage Beyond” is a suite of benefits including free airline Wi-Fi, high-speed international data coverage, AAA membership, gas discounts, booking deals on Priceline and more.

Mike Sievert, T-Mobile’s CEO says in an announcement, “More airlines, more flights, full coverage versus an hour and better connectivity. This is not that old, spotty Wi-Fi that you remember. The technology has come a long way in the last few years, and it continues to improve.”

The benefits started on June 21st on select American, Delta and Alaska Airlines flights. United Airlines will follow in the coming months.

Free Wi-Fi on flights

T-Mobile is currently working with satellite carriers to expand its coverage to more airlines and airplane types. There will be international flights with T-Mobile’s Wi-Fi coverage. Travelers will be able to stream video as well as text, checking emails and voicemails.

“The key here is the high-speed aspect, albeit with only 5GB,” says 556 Ventures analyst Bill Ho.

Unlimited airline streaming will be available for free for T-Mobile Magenta MAX and Business Unlimited Ultimate plan customers. Regular customers will still be able to connect to Wi-Fi on up to four flights annually.
