Salem, MA

The Salem witch trials occurred between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft—the Devil’s magic—and 20 were executed. Today, it is believed that the souls of the executed women still live in this small New England town, where people visit from all over the world in hopes of getting a glimpse at some paranormal activity.

Alton, IL

Considered “one of the most haunted small towns in America”, Alton is a frequented destination for ghost hunters. A terrifying history of murder, war, death, and destruction has led to Alton’s haunted reputation and many sightings of ghosts walking the streets.

New Orleans, LA

If you’re looking for ghosts, head to the French Quarter where spirits from the War of 1812 are said to frequent. If you want to make a day of it, you can also take tours of haunted mansions, wander through eerie cemeteries, and see the tomb of voodoo queen Marie Laveau.

Galveston, TX

Home to the deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history that occurred in 1900, ghost hunters say Galveston is now the permanent home to hundreds of spirits that linger in its harbor and Victorian mansions. Through October, the Galveston Historical Foundation runs haunted harbor and haunted cemetery tours, where you may meet one of these victims for yourself.
