Just weeks after the birth of their son Archie, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning a tour of Africa that will be scheduled for later this year. The trip will serve as an opportunity to further some of the charitable work that Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, started.
According to ITV, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to visit Malawi, Angola, and South Africa. The couple hopes to expand the reach of Harry’s Sentebale charity into Malawi and to raise awareness of the dangers that landmines pose in Angola, a cause that Princess Diana was also vocal about. Shortly before her death, she was pictured wearing a visor while walking through active land mine fields.
Early next week, Harry will join a conference sponsored by the HALO Trust on landmine issues in Angola. According to a statement from the palace, “the presence of land mines and remnants of the civil war render large areas of the country unsafe.”
