A new survey of the rudest cities in the US declared those that live in the Big Apple to be quite unfriendly.

The study controlled by Business Insider states that 34.3 percent of those surveyed declared NYC to have the rudest inhabitants.

NYC beat out Los Angeles by almost twice as much. Of the 2,000 people surveyed, 19.7% said Los Angeles had the rudest people.

Following behind NYC and LA for the rudest people in the country are Washington, D.C., Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Buffalo, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.

The survey results compile two online polls from October and November. In the surveys, American adults were instructed to choose 5 rudest places from a list of the 50 largest metro areas in America.

However, this announcement doesn’t exactly come as a surprise to New Yorkers. According to Business Insider, historian of the Manhattan borough, Michael Miscione told The New York Times in 2011 that New Yorkers have been known for being rude since the 1700s.

When former President John Adams visited NYC he said, “I have not seen one real gentleman, one well-bred man, since I came to town. At their entertainments there is no conversation that is agreeable; there is no modesty, no attention to one another.”

He goes on to say, “They talk very loud, very fast and altogether. If they ask you a question, before you can utter three words of your answer, they will break out upon you again and talk away.”

At the end of the day, don’t let that mess up your chances of visiting one of the greatest cities in the world — sometimes, you just have to see for yourself!
