As Los Angeles and the world prepare to pay their final respects to Nipsey Hussle, a new report says the rapper will travel through his ‘hood one last time.

According to a TMZ report, the funeral procession will cover 25 miles through Los Angeles, passing The Marathon Clothing store he loved and where he was ultimately killed, before finally arriving at a funeral home in Crenshaw.

TMZ cited unnamed sources as saying that Nipsey’s family wanted fans to have the opportunity to pay their last respects. Nipsey’s funeral will take place at the Staples Center, which seats up to 20,000 people, according to SeatGeek.

The procession is expected to take an hour and a half, according to TMZ.

Nipsey, born Ermias Asghedom, was fatally shot outside of his clothing store on March 31. A manhunt ensued and police arrested 29-year-old Eric Holder as a suspect. Police said the two men knew each other.

Nipsey’s death has reverberated from Los Angeles to Asmara, Eritrea, where he visited twice in his life. His father, Dawit Asghedom, fled war in the country and moved to the United States. Nipsey has spoken fondly of his Eritrean-American heritage and his experiences in the country.

In a 2018 interview with Eritrean state broadcaster Eri-TV, he reflected on his Eritrean roots.

“I feel a sense of pride knowing the history of the struggle and just the circumstances our people overcame,” Nipsey said in the interview. “From being outnumbered, being against superpowers, and coming out victorious, and then being self-sufficient after the fact; similar to what I stand for in music.”
