Murals are gorgeous, and often intricate, works of art painted onto large surfaces — particularly walls. The beauty of these creations is that they can also serve as an instant backdrop to add some vibrance to your travel pics.
There are hundreds of murals worldwide, and too many to mention in the United States alone. Here are a few to check out if you’re in the neighborhood.
If you’re making a trip to the Windy City consider a stop at The Songbird mural, which was painted by Chicago artists, JC Rivera and Jaime “Ames” Navarro. It recently replaced the popular Flamingo Wall, also from Rivera and Andrew Ghrist.
Location: 601 N Wells St, Chicago, IL.
Denver artist Pat Milberry loved the city so much that he created an ode to it through a series of murals. As for the meaning behind this magnificent mural, he told Denver.org, “The different tones of color express the different stages of being in love and the feeling of when you love, your heart can project. Love is a very simple concept, yet can become very complex and layered.”
Pro tip: afternoon is the best time for viewing.
Location: 2314 N Broadway, Denver, CO.
Artist Kelsey Montague is responsible for this tourist fave in Music City. The wings even inspired a collab with none other than Taylor Swift for her own pair to coincide with the release of her single Me! The commissioned piece was taken down a week later. But these pretty wings are still available for IG magic.
Location: 302 11th Ave. S, Nashville, TN.
The JustKids x Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas produced this whimsical piece from artist Kevin Lyons. You may have seen Lyons’s work elsewhere. He is responsible for the Jolly Ranchers Fruit Gang characters.
Location: Downtown Las Vegas
